NFPA 70E Electrical Safety For Supervisors

After taking this course, you will be able to:

1. Recognize the history and purpose of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and the 2018 NFPA 70E standard
2. Identify responsibilities and training requirements for Qualified and Un-qualified persons
3. Recognize what is required to achieve an electrically safe work condition through an effective safety program
4. Identify safeguards and controls for work involving electrical hazards, including the use of personal protective equipment, labels, warnings, and barricades
5. Identify host employer and contractor responsibilities required by NFPA 70E

Course topics include a discussion of the importance of NFPA 70E and how the standard is organized, requirements for an electrical safety program, establishing and verifying an electrically safe work condition, energized electrical work, shock and arc flash risk assessments and approach boundaries. Requirements for equipment labeling, illumination, housekeeping, confined spaces, flammable materials, and personal protective equipment are also covered, all from a management perspective.
